Who are the chosen Few

The Chosen Few is an elite society of event professionals founded by legendary event producer, Harriette Rose Katz. This prestigious group of industry leaders introduces a new measure of excellence for the event industry and recognizes the best businesses in New York in the categories of catering, photography, invitations, entertainment, music, floral, tents, lighting, and event design.

For more than 35 years, Harriette Rose Katz’s award-winning event planning consultancy, Gourmet Advisory Services, has gained an impeccable reputation worldwide for creating extraordinary events and celebrations. Drawing on Katz’s three decades of setting the standard for New York parties, weddings, and special events, The Chosen Few inducts membership for excellence to a select few event professionals based on the following criteria:

The Criteria

The Chosen Few honors candidates for their exceptional creativity, artistic skills and imagination. Each candidate must demonstrate their outstanding artistry and creativity through the development of original concepts that stress functionality, innovation, and unparalleled attention to detail. Additionally, to be considered a member of The Chosen Few, each candidate must demonstrate a substantial artistic impact on the event industry as a whole.

Candidates qualify as members of The Chosen Few only if those businesses meet the highest standards of integrity. They must also have the time honored characteristics of providing honest and substantial value for what is charged, and must be committed to an ongoing and trusted relationship with its clients. The business must be focused on responsiveness to their clients and moreover must maintain all of these standards in a consistent fashion.

The candidate must constantly be engaged in the relentless pursuit of excellence. That means consistently maintaining continuing industry education requirements and having procedures in place to ensure those requirements are met. Both the labor and end-product must be constantly tested and re-evaluated. The company should also welcome feedback and view it as the path to improvement and ever greater accomplishment, and not as a setback. In short, the successful candidate is one that is constantly able to adapt and reinvent itself as market conditions require.

Financial Well-Being

Given that profitability is a measure of the market’s vote of confidence, only financially sound companies that have been in business for some time qualify for The Chosen Few. The successful candidate is one that sits on a solid financial foundation.
